पूरी कविता यहाँ पढ़ें :
मैं उन सीढ़ियों से भी प्रेम करता हूँ
जिन पर चलकर उससे मिलने जाया करता था
और उस खिड़की से भी
जिसके बाहर देखती थीं उसकी उदास आँखें
मुझे अब भी उस अँधेरे से प्रेम है
जिसके उजालों में चलकर पहुँचा था उसके पास
मैंने उन सारी चीज़ों से प्रेम किया
जो उसके हाथों से छुई गई थीं कभी न कभी
जैसे दीवार
काजल लगा आईना
कपड़े सुखाने की रस्सियाँ
कमरे की चाबियाँ
और कमरे की सारी खूँटियाँ…
जहाँ हमने अपनी प्रार्थनाएँ लटकाई थीं कभी
मैंने अलमारी में लटके उन सारे हैंगर्स से भी प्रेम किया
जिनमें सफ़ेद झाग वाले सर्फ़ की तरह महकते थे उसके हाथ
मैंने उन सारी चीज़ों से प्रेम किया
जिन्हें उसके तलवों ने छुआ था
जैसे पृथ्वी
जैसे यह सारा संसार
इस तरह मैंने
दुनिया की हर एक चीज़ से प्रेम किया
उसके प्रेम में।
